Meet Buddy. Buddy’s owner brought him in because he was presenting lethargy at home. An ultrasound was done and he had a large mass on his spleen. He had surgery right away and had a six pound tumor on his spleen and both were removed. He is now at home recovering and will be able to live the rest of is life healthy and happy!

Leisel is a sweet girl who had bladder stones. The owner was not able to afford the surgery so they came to us for help. We are happy to report that she is doing great at home and will continue to live a healthy, happy life!

Scooby

04/01/2025 will be a crazy day for the books for us. This was the day that my husband, Blaine, and I made a last minute drop-off appointment with the vet clinic Fair Grove Veterinary Services (FGVS) in Fair Grove, MO. Shortly after 8AM this day, I dropped our little guy, Scoobard ("Scooby", for short). During this drop off, I had explained what was going on with Scooby: he has been lethargic for the past week or so, on and off, but more so lethargic the past 2 days. I went on to explain that he may have hurt his back again, from playing too rough with his older siblings. So, after the intake interview, they took my precious gem out of the door and I was on my way to work for the day.

Naturally, I was very anxious throughout the day; as hours went by. Then I received a voicemail to call FGVS back and ask for his vet that day, Dr. Walker. I definitely didn't waste any time to call them back. Ring ring and I get the news that Scoobard has a VERY LARGE mass on his spleen...I'm sorry, what? Yes...This mass was HUGE! They sent the X-Ray results so we could see them. I would say the size is/was a little larger than a softball in the US. We were instructed that Scoobard would need immediate exploratory surgery like ASAP. They were worried it would rupture, especially with the larger babies at home.

Well crap...We didn't have $1,200.00 just laying around for this all of a sudden.

We were told we could go get Scooby whenever we are able to, unless we wanted to opt in for the surgery that afternoon...But, like I said, we didn't have the money. BUT, when we left work early to get him and figure out what to do, Dr. Walker had already contacted this organization "Zoey's Four-Legged Friends". She had also sent the X-Ray's, told Scooby's story and sent everything she could think of to this organization in hopes we would be able to save Scoobard's life that could abruptly end very soon, especially if the mass ruptured--which it seemed that it would do that soon, considering the behavior and condition of Scooby, especially with his lethargy and pain. When we picked little dude up, we just had to fill the application out, per Dr. Walker. It was noted as ASAP. So, I immediately did that. I filled out the application for a Grant from this organization before the conversation was close to a finish with Dr. Walker.

After finishing up the vet office, I just sat, cried and held Scoobard while Blaine drove us home. I was devastated with the idea that Scoobard may not have but days to who knows what, and it wouldn't be a quick, painless passing either. The option to do the surgery had to happen, it was the only option, besides euthanasia. we had to get the surgery done! As soon as we got home, we received an email telling us that our application had been received by Zoey's Four-Legged Friends and the information has been sent to the board for review. We were told to expect an update no later than 24 hours, I believe. I thanked them, went on my way.

All jokes aside, not even 30 minutes later, Dr. Walker called to tell us to check our emails. She was VERY bubbly considering what just took place just hours before. BUT! There is was, we were approved for the Grant to fight and kick this masses booty! Zoey's Four-Legged Friends and their grant had made it possible for my precious baby gem, Scoobard, to live a long life! Without them,  I don't know what would have happened. We would have been at a loss and Scoobard may not have been able to get his surgery that ultimately saved his life. I still get teary-eyed thinking and talking about it, but it is true. Scoobard had his surgery Friday, 04/04/2025, and it was paid for by this AMAZING, SAVING, Grace of an organization. We picked Scoobard up from his hospitalization this morning, 04/05/2025, and we know that he will be okay. The surgery went amazing and we believe the mass will most likely be a hematoma, from pulling the mass open after his surgery Scooby's new, longer life is starting today. It was ONLY possible thanks to Zoey's Four-Legged Friends and their willingness to accept and help save my precious baby's life. Coordination at its finest, Dr. Walker and this organization from Heaven!

Thank you so much for everything, Zoey's Four-Legged Friends! We are super appreciative of you and cannot thank you enough! Thank you for making sure my big guy, Scoobard, is still with his family! We are so happy, and so is Scoobard! ~~Scooby’s Loving Owners
